Foliate Eve Rising

Foliate woman

My influences with this lino print are Chloris, the Greek goddess of flowers and an early carved sculpture – The Temptation of Eve – a bas-relief sculpture (Cathedral of Saint Lazarus of Autun, France. c. 1130). This eve acknowledged nature and renewal even if the churches mythology about women came from fear and ignorance.

My Eve rises from the earth, her tendrils flow with growth, the real power of nature lies in renewal and rebirth.
